Kainchi Dham, near Nainital in Uttarakhand, is the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba — revered across India and internationally (including by Silicon Valley figures like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, who have spoken of his influence). The journey from Varanasi to Kainchi Dham is a long but deeply rewarding pilgrimage — leaving the ancient ghats of Kashi for the cool Himalayan foothills, pine forests, and the serene energy of this Uttarakhand ashram.

At approximately 750 km, this is one of our longer pilgrimage packages, best done as a 3–4 day journey with an overnight halt en route (typically near Lucknow or Bareilly) and time to also explore Nainital Lake, Naina Devi Temple, and the surrounding hill stations. Our experienced long-distance drivers handle this Varanasi-to-Uttarakhand route regularly and know the best overnight stops, hill driving conditions, and Kainchi Dham's darshan timings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Kainchi Dham is approximately 750 km from Varanasi. By road, this typically takes 16–18 hours of total driving time, which is why we strongly recommend breaking the journey with an overnight halt (usually near Lucknow or Bareilly) rather than attempting it in one continuous drive.
Kainchi Dham is the ashram established by Neem Karoli Baba, a revered spiritual figure whose devotees include many well-known international personalities. The ashram sits beautifully along the Kosi River surrounded by pine forests, offering a peaceful atmosphere for meditation and reflection. June 15 each year marks the ashram's founding anniversary and draws particularly large crowds.
Yes — most groups combine Kainchi Dham darshan with broader Nainital sightseeing: Naina Devi Temple, Nainital Lake, Mall Road, and nearby hill stations like Bhimtal or Sattal. We can extend the package to 4-5 days to comfortably include more of this Uttarakhand circuit.
For elderly passengers, we strongly recommend the Innova Crysta or our Force Urbania Maharaja (recliner seats) given the long driving distance. We also recommend the 4D/3N version with comfortable overnight halts rather than rushing, and build in extra rest stops throughout each day's drive.
Kainchi Dham can be visited year-round, but summer months (April-June) and the post-monsoon period (October-November) offer the most pleasant weather for the hill station experience. Winter (December-February) brings cold temperatures and occasional snow in higher areas, while monsoon (July-September) can affect hill road conditions — plan accordingly.
For 8 people in our 9-seater Tempo Traveller, the 3D/2N package is ₹35,000 total = approximately ₹4,375 per person (excluding hotel stays, which are separate). For larger groups in our 17-seater, this comes down significantly to around ₹2,750 per person for 16 passengers.
Yes — for this and all our Himalayan foothill routes, we assign drivers specifically experienced with hill roads, hairpin bends, and the driving conditions unique to approaches like Kainchi Dham and Nainital. Safety on mountain roads is a top priority and our drivers are well-versed in these routes.
